  • Laundry
  • Preparation and planning meals that addresses ethnic and dietary needs
  • Shopping/errands

  • Social support

Homemakers may also be responsible for more significant housekeeping and personal cares (ADLs) based on the authorization from a Medical Assistance Waiver Case worker.

Chore

Our chore program gives support and assistance to keep and maintain a safe, clean and sanitary home. Chore services may include heavier household chores, such as washing floors, walls and windows. Lawn cutting, snow removal, shoveling and basic indoor and outdoor home maintenance can also be utilized in the chore program which is important to Northern Minnesota elders.

Respite

We understand that as a caregiver, caring for a loved one can be stressful. First Nation Home Health’s respite care program provides planned short-term and time-limited breaks for caregivers. Respite care offers you time to take care of yourself: visit a friend for lunch, attend religious or tribal events, run errands, or go an appointment. Our health care professionals will provide light housecleaning, care, and companionship while you’re away. First Nations Home Health’s respite service helps support and maintain a healthy relationship, the Native American heritage and provides a positive experience for the elder receiving care.

Companion Care

First Nation Home Health’s companion care service provides non-medical, personal company and friendship to adults with an approach that is culturally-sensitive to the unique ethnic and linguistic needs of Native Americans. Companion care keeps your loved one socially engaged by playing games, reading books, going for walks and gardening. The primary focus of companion care is to keep your loved one socially engaged, happy and comfortable.
