Like our other home health care services, skilled services offer care to Native American elders recovering from an illness or injury or other disabling event with care from licensed professionals who share our cultural care values. Supportive services performed by paraprofessionals may also provide assistance with activities of daily living when relevant to an illness or injury.
Skilled Nursing
Services performed by Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses included health status assessments, teaching about diseases and treatment for clients and families, taking samples for lab tests, medication training and compliance, wound care venipuncture and more. With 40% of Native Americans in Minnesota been diagnosed with diabetes, wound dressing changes and nutritional counseling is imperative to maintaining mobility and independence.
Supportive
Paraprofessionals are hands-on care providers that are important to the success of your loved one’s health care plan. Our home health aides provide assistance with personal care such as bathing, assistance with range of motion, eating and administering medication all with dignity and compassion.
Therapy
Therapies can be provided to Native Americans with recovery from illness, injury or surgery. These include physical therapy to regain physical motion and strength, occupational therapy to regain day to day skills, and speech and language therapy to improve breathing or lung functioning.
