Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health Services (ARMHS)

ARMHS (Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health Services) are mental health services aimed at teaching you skills for managing your mental health symptoms, getting along with others, and for living as independently as possible in your own home or community. Meeting frequency and weekly hours are determined based on client need and progress. ARMHS is not case management and is not traditional therapy.

Who is eligible for ARMHS?

ARMHS is for adults (18+) who have a qualifying mental illness and who are eligible for medical assistance that want to work on improving their life.  Some qualifying mental illnesses are Major Depression, Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Agoraphobia, Borderline Personality Disorder, and others. People who don't have a formal diagnosis or who aren't sure if their diagnosis will qualify them for services are encouraged to call. A diagnostic interview can be arranged as part of intake.

What services are available?

ARMHS services focuses on two things: managing emotions and mental health symptoms, and learning skills to help live as independently as possible. We focus our attention on the specific goals set by our clients. Our clients aren't pressured on working on any specific agenda; it's about developing their own skills so they can achieve their own personal goals in life. Clients may focus on:

  • Learning how to take medication
  • Managing a budget
  • Learning how to control anger
  • Learning how to advocate for yourself with your psychiatrist
  • How to talk to your landlord
  • Developing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle through diet, exercise and sleep
